Welcome to Desktop Pilot's April Newsletter!
Hello Aviation Aficionados and Loyal Subscribers,
We are thrilled to present the newest edition of Desktop Pilot’s newsletter. Your continuous support and enthusiasm for our mission are greatly appreciated. At Desktop Pilot, we are dedicated to enhancing aviation training with our top-notch flight simulation hardware, designed to sharpen pilot skills and promote safety.
In this issue, we have some exciting updates to share, including our participation in the upcoming FlightSimExpo in Las Vegas. We invite you to visit us there and meet the Desktop Pilot team in person. Additionally, we have some exciting new product announcements that we’re eager to reveal. If you’re looking to take your home flight simulation to the next level, you’ve come to the right place.
What’s New?
We are delighted to announce the completion of our first prototype for our full flight simulator! This cutting-edge flight simulator features a professional appearance and commercial-grade quality, and we are excited to share a photo of it with you.
While our initial goal was to launch it for sale in June 2024, we need to complete thorough testing and transition it into production to ensure the highest quality standards. Consequently, the new estimated availability date is now September 2024. Thank you for your patience and continued support as we finalize this groundbreaking product.
Desktop Pilot’s new full flight simulator features the G1000 Glass Cockpit, complete with a programmable autopilot and all essential flight controls found in the C172 G1000 cockpit.
The Flight Deck Includes the Following Instruments:
- Desktop Pilot Yoke: Designed for precise control, this yoke offers a realistic flight experience with smooth and responsive handling. Features include a 16-bit resolution controller, microphone switch, electric trim knob, and autopilot switch.
- Desktop Pilot Rudder Pedals: These pedals provide accurate rudder and brake control, enhancing the realism of your flight simulation.
- Circuit Breaker Panel: Featuring a spring-return key switch and dummy circuit breakers to simulate real aircraft functionality.
- ELT Switch: Essential for sending a distress signal in the event of an emergency.
- Hobbs Meter: Adds the total time an aircraft is used by using the engine as a trigger. When the engine is running, the meter is on; when the engine is off, the meter is off.
- Multi-Instrument Panel: Includes an airspeed indicator, attitude gauge, and altimeter, giving you all the necessary flight information at a glance.
- G1000 Switch Panel: Allows for easy control of various flight functions, replicating the G1000 avionics suite.
- G1000 Primary Flight Display: Displays critical flight data, including airspeed, altitude, and navigation information.
- G1000 Multifunction Display: Provides additional data and system information, enhancing situational awareness.
- Audio Panel: Manages communication and navigation audio settings, just like in a real aircraft.
- Carb Heat Vernier Throttle Quadrant: Offers precise throttle, mixture, and carb heat control, mirroring the functionality of a real aircraft.
- Trim Wheel with Indicator and Autopilot Features: Allows for fine-tuning of aircraft trim and easy engagement of autopilot modes.
- Flaps Panel with Motorized Indicator: Ensures accurate control and indication of flap positions. Uses a potentiometer to control the flap actuation.
- Parking Brake: Simulates real-world parking brake functionality for complete ground handling.
- Fuel Shut-Off Valve & Fuel Selector Panel: Essential for managing fuel flow and tank selection, just like in a real cockpit.
